Greetings,
First, I like to be called "Jim," without the "Bro." or "Rev." etc. That is how I feel most welcomed. However, if one must put the title in front of the name, I'll accept it without the slightest grudge. I am just one of Jesus's disciples like every other professing Christian.
My father was a Baptist preacher/contractor who started several churches in west Mississippi, Louisiana, and east Texas until we settled in West Monroe, LA, when I was five or six years old. There I lived until age 13, and we moved to Covington, LA, until I graduated from Covington High and hit the road: going to college and travelling. In the middle of that life, age 21, Jesus called me into ministry, at which time I began preaching and witnessing in the streets of Shreveport, LA. Until the age of 46, my wife and kids travelled around, mostly in Louisiana and through several Christian denominations, while I took on jobs to support my habit of preaching the gospel. Finally, I emerged in the United Methodist Church and began pastoring parttime near Covington while I taught Spanish in Washington Parish Schools. After three years of that I was appointed to a full-time position at Colfax UMC, Colfax, LA and have been pastoring full-time ever since.
My wife for 36 years, Sara, is a mental health counselor. My son Daniel and his wife Katy have three daughters. Sara and I had a daughter, Elizabeth, who was killed by an auto at the age of 9. The Lord has taught us how to deal with personal tragedy and sorrow. We now look forward to working together with others who seek to enjoy the fullest of Christ's eternal resources he provides for our daily lives.
